Hello,
My boyfriend just got his new toy a week ago (2011 997.2 Variant 911 - I was recently correct on what type of Porsche he bought). I am not so into cars to know enough what the most exciting and useful accessory/part would be to purchase and am hoping I can get some ideas from Porsche lovers such as yourself.
This will be a gift for Christmas.

The car on the left is a 997.2. On the right is a 997.1. Note the teardrop shape of the 997.2 tail light.

LED kit on a 997.1 (2005-2008). Nice looking car though. Enjoy.

Yup, this car is .1 Notice the outer edges of the lights have a bit of an angled cut. The .2 lights converge smoothly.
If OP is correct though and this is indeed a 2011 car, it must be the only car ever which went from a .2 bumper to a .1 bumper in order to use the .1 lights

Sorry OP, i got distracted by the discussion on .1 vs .2. To answer your question, these are common upgrades that people do, and it all depends on budget and personal preference:

1. LED lights (looks already taken care of)
2. Side markers in clear/smoke
3. Exhaust
4. Shifter + cables + transmission mounts (if manual transmission)
5. Replace PCM with aftermarket
6. Interior LED lights upgraded to LED
7. interior upgrade to leather/alcantara/painted console/etc.
8. Steering wheel upgrade to the 991 version
9. Suspension upgrade
10. Intake/plenum/throttle body upgrade
