Default Durametric not clearing airbag light codes randomly?

Hey guys,

Have a 997 with seats and a steering wheel inside.

Was switching out the steering wheel the other day and when starting the car noticed the air bag light now won't go away.

Pulled it up on the Durametric and these were the codes throwing.

Seems odd as the seats have never had a problem since i installed, i unplugged and replugged in the plugs for the seat airbag setting, nothing changed.

Can't seem to figure it out.

Any help would be awesome!

2009 C2S 103K miles

Odd.... I disconnected my passenger seat airbag and simply cleared the code with the Durametric menu. It just worked.

Did you try clearing the codes with the Durametric?

If you did, the code that catches my attention is the belt buckle....... did you bolt it down over the carpet?

Peace

Maybe i have a bad durametric? Not too sure.

The belt buckle is bolted to the seat bracket which is metal so i don't think it should be getting a bad ground.

It'll clear, then i turn key off and back on and the codes all show up again.

Durametric clears the airbag faults which turns off the airbag light. But if the underlying problem is still there it comes back on. Since you are seeing airbag errors on both seats look at the common areas - the airbag control unit itself.

Any chance you had your center console out recently? Like for a shifter or radio upgrade?

Check the connection to the airbag control unit. It's located in the center console area under the PCM stack. You can usually see it by removing just one of the side trim panels to the center radio area. The main harness connected to the airbag control unit goes out to the driver's thorax airabg, passenger's thorax airbag, belt locks on both sides (perhaps your driver's side is disabled), and passenger's seat weight system - all the errors you are seeing.

I'd also verify the steering wheel airbag connector is inserted properly since this was a recent change on your car. It can be tricky looking like it is seated correctly when it is not.

Unplugged everything. Put stock airbag back in, plugged seats in, still getting codes after durametric reset

Now implausible is gone but 8053: drivers belt buckle short circuit to b+ is showing up.

No clue, maybe this durametric is reading improperly

I think the buckle ground is an upstream issue causing those other downstream faults.

Where does the buckle ground? There's only two wires that come out of it which go to the airbag module.

Everything stock plugged in, still pulling codes. I think my Durametric system may be messed up. Updated and still issues so i'll head to my friends shop with a PIWIS tester
