Default PCM 2.1 replacement, code out nav?

I recently had the PCM unit totally die on my 2005 Carrera S.

Not a problem as I had a seemingly identical PCM unit from a 2006 Cayman I once owned still kickin around.

I installed the cayman unit in my carrera and voila! works like a charm.

That is, all except one pesky error that takes over the screen saying it cannot find navigation hardware. I clear it every time I start the car by pressing the right dial once and that's that, works like normal otherwise.

So clearly, my cayman had nav and my carrera does not. I asked my buddy who also happens to be a porsche tech at my local dealer if he could "code out" nav from my head unit so it no longer looks for the hardware.

He was unsure if this could be done or not and said he'd need to research.

Has anyone else swapped head units and had options like nav coded in/out? does anyone know how to do this through piwis or other means?

Thanks in advance.
