Default Heated steering wheel

I finally acquired my first 911, a 2011 Carrera coupe 4S with only 12,000 miles.
Equipped just the way I've been looking for.

6 speed
GT silver w/black interior
Sport chrono package plus
Sport exhaust,
19" sport design wheels
Electric seats
GT silver center console
infotainment package
sunroof
comfort package

Previous owner had the multi function wheel added after delivery and everything works fine except the heated wheel function.
Looked at the service records and previous dealer reports that it cannot be connected but confirm the option on the wheel. Button is there behind center spoke.

Anyone know if this can be connected?

Thanks in advance for any helpful info.

common problem. if you add a wheel with heat, you have to add the wiring connection for the heat. They didnt add the wire connector. Have the parts dept look it up and buy one and have the service dept put it in.

OKB,

My local dealer did ask if I wanted them to "investigate" to find a solution but with your info, if that wiring harness exist, than they should know for sure how to solve it.

Thanks for the info.

thats the answer, they just dont know it. tell the parts dept to look up the part, or suncoast can look it up and sell it
and I think they have to activate it with the computer after its in
You can take the wheel apart and see that the wire from the heat button is plugged into a socket, But the socket is blank, theres nothing in it. the new one has the connectors

I understood a heated wheel could be retrofitted only if you already had heated seats specified originally.

You will need to change the horse shoe shaped control module that sits within steering column, behind the indicator stalk assembly. This unit will receive the heated wheel connector that you will currently have hanging loose within your wheel. The module you need is part number: 997.613.299.02.

It's all starting to fall into place. My local dealer on the east side are very good. I will share the info and have him quote me the update as my schedule won't let me tinker at present.

The car has heated seats.

A heated steering wheel for a 911. What will they think of next? Maybe a spare tire...

You could then warm your hands, after changing your tire?

Wear gloves! You're Canadian!

...just jealous 'cause my 996 doesn't have that option.

Probably will do. Dealer is still unsure of the parts and the modul is close to $500 and they cannot guarantee its the correct one.

Pair of high quality gloves... $80.

My '09 has the heated steering wheel. It's also multi-function and Makassar wood. I'm not sure if an all-leather wheel heats all the way around but mine only seems to warm up where the leather portions are at three, six and nine o'clock. Of course that makes sense since wood doesn't conduct heat very well. It also takes several minutes for the wheel to warm up significantly. It's not that great an option, IMO.

My point being that if the parts and service hours necessary to hook yours up are more than a hundred bucks or so, it may not be worth it to go to the trouble.

Probably isn't worth the trouble as I will not be driving it in winter and the winter beater (M235i) has a heated steering wheel...
