Finished this project finally.

Fabspeed x pipe: Used some wood working clamps to pull the x pipe a couple mm closer to the heat shield to be able to use the rectangle shaped braces and bracket on the back of the x pipe and tighten everything up. I couldn't get the bolts to reach without doing this.

Fister mufflers: muffler shop swapped out stock with Fister mufflers with the 1.75inch "gundo" hack. Took shop about 1.5 hours to do the swap (longer than I think it should have taken). In hindsight, after doing the x pipe myself, I should have just done the mufflers too.

End result... The exhaust is MUCH more aggressive now. Sound is not Mustang with flowmasters and no cats kind of sound (I loved that sound 20 years ago, but didn't want my 911 to sound like that). It is more of a tuned exotic kinds of sound. Under 3k RPM it's pretty tame, but right at about 3k it really comes to life. On the highway at 3K RPM (80MPH) it's a little loud, but not to loud - Note I have a CAB and that is with the top down. Cold start the sound is just mean (in a good way)! When you let off the gas from a higher RPM the burple of the exhaust gases settling sounds amazing also. I don't think I notice a change in power. I'm not sure I could notice 10-15hp anyways, but the sound alone is worth it.

Highly recommend this combination. Also John (at Fabspeed) and Darin (Fister) were both pros to work with.

Awesome! I am about to do the same.. but I will do the gundo hack instead of Fister. Already order the fabspeed x-pipe and trying to decide if I will do the gundo with 1.75" or 2" pipes. I am towards 1.75".

Thanks for sharing the trick with clamps.

Did the Fabspeed X and Gundo couple years ago. Very happy with the sound- especially in a Cab! One of my favorite things is the weight differential between center can and X-pipe, especially hanging way out back like that. Mine does seem to dump black exhaust condensation all over at cold startup. Never could get the seal points just right.

Here is first fire-up after installing intake and X, but pre-Gundo....

Thanks for the video and info! Have the Fabspeed x-pipe and CF intake on my 997.2GTS and love the sound! Very heppy...BUT I too have the dreaded black exhaust condensation upon cold start-up...I have tweaked the clamps every which way and cannot get it to stop.

Anyone have ideas? Having the same problem?

Cooper it is great to hear everything came together to be the sound you were looking for. Also, thank you for the kind words! It was a pleasure working with you, and look forward to doing so again in the future

My thoughts are on the 1.75" as well if you are looking for more of a PSE level of sound. Appreciate the business and am looking forward to seeing/hearing the results

Brad great to hear from you! You have my favorite 911 and you know it haha. Have fun at autocross, you are going to love it. Remember to look ahead and keep checking your tire pressures between runs.

As for the condensation, a long while ago I had a fellow use some exhaust sealant with success. Think it was Permatex? Either way, figured i'd mention it.
