Wheels: How narrow for 4S in snow?

I run 295/30/19 winters (rear) on my 2wd GTS...going into its 4th Canadian prairie winter as a daily driver. Aside from snow getting packed into the front Spyder wheels when it's REALLY deep and throwing off the balance, the car is fine in winter. Oh wait...the front Aerokit lip gets beat up and needs to be replaced once a year, but scraping (all year round) does just as much damage as plowing snow drifts.

A very helpful thread...

This^.
Not really sure how a narrower tire would affect the load rating? And while it's a "lot of weight" compared to a similarly weighted sports car, due to the funky distribution, it is no where near a lot of weight for tires.

Not sure how? When you downsize the wheel, you get a higher profile tire. The overall diameter is usually within 1% or so.

I always like a tire thread.
I've got a bit of a different setup. Carrera III 18x8 fronts and 18x11 rears. Found a set of Blizzaks-LM32s in 235/40/18 and 275/35/18. 275 is the minimum width for an 11 inch rim. This isn't a Porsche approved size and it's not a Porsche approved tire. On the plus side the LM32's were engineered for the Aston Martin Rapide so it should hold together. I hear good things about the Perrelli Sottozeros but Blizzaks give me the warm fuzzies.

good info on this thread.
I am looking at a set of winters for my 2004 C4S with lowering springs.
will 235/40r18 for the fronts and 265/40r18 for the rear work? anybody else running this setup?

Is this right? a 255 width rim for winter on a 10x18 rim for carrera? I am looking at this setup now as my tyre show cant find me a good nordic winter tyre in 265-40 size (but 255-40 is possible). Mindful of the mega stretched look, I wonder if this is a crazy hail mary, or I should not compromise on fitment (265 is a must) but should compromise on traction (only central europe M+S tyres available in 265-40, but they all suck very much in proper winter). Thoughts? Sorry for an old thread revival btw!!
