Help Mirror detached from windshield
My mirror was very loose and vibrating to the point i could not use it. I pulled it off expecting to see a metal medallion... but what i see is the base is attached directly to the windshield. The base is a thin metal circle with a round plastic piece in the middle. I don't have a auto sensing mirror.
Has anyone seen this and reattached their mirror? Do I glue the thin lip to the windshield and the center plastic? most kits i see are for the metal medallion...
HELP!!!

The issue is this: What type of material attaches to the glass? Is it plastic? Is it metal?
The answer simply changes the adhesive that you'd use. Further, is there anyway to remove the bulk of the mirror from the arm/whatever so you can glue it up sans extra weight?
When you know the answer, check here for the adhesive you need, and brand names such as Permatex or Loctite will be recommended (for example).

And save that link. I use it all the time for other gluing conundrums.
It's unusual to go plastic to glass, but there is an adhesive for that: Loctite Impruv (UV actually cures it, so the sun makes it stronger.)

Do you have full glass coverage with your insurance? If yes then it would cover replacing the entire windshield. Or perhaps a windshield replacement shop could reattach the mirror for you, they do it every day. Or at least they could confirm that it's a problem that's only repaired with a full windshield replacement.
