Default Engine fan not working

My rear deck lid cooling fan is not working. It was a 109 in Medford yesterday and I know the fan should have kicked on after driving home from work. I have checked the fuses and the relays under the sub-woofer and I can trigger both the high and low speeds through my Durametric and there are no codes. The front radiator fans are working fine. The only assumption I can make is the thermostat that messages the ECU to operate the rear deck fan is faulty or there is some other electrical problem. Where is the thermostat for the rear deck fan? Thanks

The deck lid fan thermostat is on the right/passenger side of the engine. It is held in place onto the intake by a rubber grommet.

Check one time the closing contact of the lid, maybe it came loose and detect an open lid so it will not kick in you fan. At least you know the problem is not the fan itself.

I have the same issue. Can someone please post a pic of the location of the temperature sensor in the engine compartment ? I can't seem to locate it.

Thanks.

I believe I found it. 2010 Carrera S. I appears it is located on the intake manifold runner on the left (driver side) plenum. If I am correct this may be the culprit.

I am going to order a replacement and see what happens.

I found it. How do you know if it's bad?

I don't but it is the only thing left to explain why the fan is not working post driving cool down.

I have a question. Is the fan supposed to run after driving after you shut off the engine or does it only run if the engine is running (and hot).
Mine has never run after I shut down, it turns off when I turn off the engine.
Thanks

If the sensor detects a high temp after the engine is shut off it will run for a while then shut down and the run again until the engine has cooled down enough. I have had my car 2 years and love in Atlanta and it seemed to run a good bit the first year and this year I never hear it in my garage. When you raise the spoiler manually it should turn on when driving to help cool the engine

Yes it suppose to help with the cool down process post driving with the engine off

Maybe my engine bay just isn't hot enough? Or for the '05 997 they didn't have the feature? It has never run after shutoff of engine.

Well my Owners manual says the fan can come on regardless if the engine is on or not, if the temp is high enough. Time to experiment.

I used to hear the fans on my 12 C2S running in my garage after a good drive the first summer I owned it. Now that I have seen this thread, I can't remember the last time I heard the fans running. I am not sure mine work now either!!
