Driving out on the back roads this morning. Cars, bicyclists and motorcyclists. All behaved. All sharing the road. All enjoying the cooler than normal temps. What I have noticed in my 2+ years of Porsche ownership is that all of the above groups seem to behave well and act respectfully when traveling alone or in small numbers. Once there is a whole mess of any of these, it seems that rudeness, discourteous behavior, and safety violations multiply...T
My hometown. I'm right there every single day. I've never had a problem with cyclists.
I get the feeling that guy doesn't live here anyway. Probably from certain surrounding areas. What a dick.
Edit: The comments are lol. Lots of info on the guy there. He is from exactly where I thought he'd be from. He "owns" absolutely no part of the city he claimed to own/live in, in the video. What a clown. People are generally much more civil and mellow here than where he's (actually) from, lolol.

I have no problems with cyclists using the roads but that video only showed that cyclist's side of the story and I suspect both of them were being dicks. The way the cyclist was reciting code and repeating "share road", he struck me as one of those self-entitled elitists who think nothing of blocking up the road because they're "green", "in shape", "on a bicycle", "whatever".
I've had to ride for what seemed like miles (in truth, it was probably less than a mile) behind one of these ****** on a two-lane country road with on-coming traffic and it's no fun.
I don't care what you ride or drive, if you're holding up traffic on a two-lane road, then pull the heck over. If you're a cyclist, use the bike lane if there is one.

I can see how it could get irksome on a two lane road, if a cyclist refuses to actually share the road/single lane, and instead treats it as theirs to use exclusively. This, however, happened on Pacific Coast Highway. Two and three lanes per direction, plus parking lanes. The driver could have easily moved to the left lane. I do it all the time. Could be, both people had chips on their shoulders, but the old guy lost his ****. No excuse for that BS.

Never seen the latter down here in Texas. Oklahoma, yes, but not Texas. I have found farmers in slow moving vehicles to be universally polite and move over at first opp...T
I was driving the other day and a mini van pulled out in front of me from a side road causing me to slam on my brakes. Then this a$$ hat went literally 50 feet and made a right turn! One of those divers who believe they are the only ones on the road.
I used to live close to the Amish communities in Pennsylvania, they try to stay right for the most part. As far as cyclist, I have been behind large groups that act like toolbags taking the whole lane up even with a 5' shoulder they could use, but no, I went 15-20 mph waiting for them. Once I was so pissed, I was a dick and stopped at a green light so they all had to stop and unhook their toe clips. It looked like a flock of fingers behind me. No real issues, I didn't put anyone in harms way, just made them wait as they did me.
My name is Doug ... and, I get road rage, though thankfully not that often. Amazing isn't it how i can be civil in so many other frustrating situations but when I get behind the wheel it's somehow different. My trigger-finger seems to have a bit of a short fuse. Afterwards I often feel embarrassed or guilty that I let something trivial bother me that much. No excuse though for some of the d*&^bag stories noted above!
That article remind me of a great solution in my case: On my previous company car I had dynamic cruise control. It was honestly the best solution I have tried so far in order not to get pissed of in traffic.
When using it I often found myself in the rightmost lane cruising instead of in the left one.
The real reason is that it worked best when there were not so many lane changes. It also had queue assist which meant it started and stopped automatically in queues plus kept the distance between traffic. In rush hour traffic I had to put it on smallest distance though. Otherwise it had the opposite effect...,.
I never felt as relaxed going from work and back or on longer road trips.

In the last fifteen years, this has become the most expensive city, in terms of real estate, in the US. (One of many sources: https://www.coldwellbanker.com/hlr/2015 ; another: http://money.cnn.com/2015/11/10/real...using-markets/) Unlike twenty or thirty years ago, the people buying now in this area no longer spend their days surfing, lounging along the boardwalk, and working just enough to get by. In fact, people who can afford to live here now are mostly all professionals at the very top of their game.
This makes the old man's self proclaimed "surfer" demographic bitter towards those who actually "own" the city now. In fact, if you listen closely, all of his grievances and insecurities come raging out in his ridiculous rant.
Bottom line is, the old man was picking a fight. The young guy was perceived by the old guy to be condescending/offensive towards him in some manner. This stuff happens more and more around here now. The old "haves" can't keep up any more, in this day and age, and they're lashing out more and more often.

People around here are very positive. They ask about the car, thumbs up etc. I've had some incidents in my bmw but this Spyder seems to bring the best out of people.
So today I'm driving in town and I switch lanes and speed up since the lane is very clear. I see a pair of lights coming closer real fast. Couldn't tell at first what it is but I continue and say to myself, "bet he is trying to catch my Porsche." So I take a hard right and after downshifting to second and Get on the freeway. Here he comes...it was a corvette trying to catch me. He takes the corner too hard hits the throttle and breaks the back end out and almost loses it. He fishtails out and let's off the throttle. Way funny because he gets on the freeway going 45 or so. Wants no part of coming up to me. LOL
Why are Vette people so easy to take bait and race? Are they really that insecure about that V8 That they have to show how powerful it is?? Way funny to see he reaction after he almost lost it. Maybe needed new shorts!!
This morning at 6 Am at a red light with the windows down and no other traffic I could hear burbling Italian exhaust rapidly approaching
downshifting from behind getting ready to stop next to me at the red light.
He stopped and I glanced over and Mama Mia it was a pearl white Maserati Quattroporte GTS. Light turned green and that sumbitch disappeared
into the horizon and that’s when I realized I went to work in my Ford F150…
I turned at the next light into Starbucks for my morning fuel. Next time!
