yes, you need software that will allow you to run windows.
i use VMware Fusion. Parallels can also work.
you install this
Then you install windows
Then yo install the durametric software
It works fine for me.

Google 'Boot Camp'. That's the easiest way to run an MS OS on a Mac.

You are on the wrong forum.
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201468
http://www.howtogeek.com/186907/how-...ith-boot-camp/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boot_Camp_(software)
http://www.wikihow.com/Choose-Betwee...-and-Parallels

Boot Camp is an Apple product included with Intel based Macs. You still need to buy a copy of the Windows OS you intend to install.

Personally I would just buy a cheap laptop from local electronics store. You can leave it dedicated to durametric and not worry about getting the fancy aluminum on a macbook all dirty or scratched.

I have a spare laptop that i have in the garage with all service manuals for various gizmos, obd II cable etc all. Any older laptop will work fine. You don't need a fancy fast one.

I run Windows 10 on my Macbook using bootcamp. You have to partition the drive and restart in windows but that's fine. I pretty much only use it for the Durametric so it doesn't bother me. It works like a charm. Set up is kind of a PITA because you have to download windows ISO installer and then create a Thumb Drive installer. Windows is pretty lame but it works.

+1 this is what I do as well.
I use Mac everywhere else including a MacBook Pro with Parallels & Windows for things I really need to do on both Windows and OS X platforms.

My personal feeling/opinion is; do not waste resources on your Mac to install Windows and Parallels just to run Durametric software. Rather find an old Windows laptop (do a free Windows 10 upgrade if you like) and use that for Durametric.

+1 on getting a dedicated laptop to run the Durametric app. I have a touchscreen Dell with a screen that opens up and lies flat on the keyboard...nice for using in the car.
