I know this is an old thread on 6speedonline but I saw this today I think on Facebook somewhere. has anyone done this? My nav maps are outdated and the rest of the info could easily be replicated on the iPad mini with much more detail and a million apps that would make a touchscreen application a great mod to my 2008 PCM, music streaming, WAZE navigation, Uploading Porsche manuals, etc. If you advance a couple more pages on that thread there's a youtube vid of the unit in action. Very cool. Would love to add this although I'm not mechanically inclined as far as audio systems go.

I guess doable, but unless you can enable Apple CarPlay, I don't like just a plain old iPad in there. You lose a lot of the functionality of PCM, no buttons to press for volume, and you lose phone functionality (unless there's a way to connect things that I don't know of).

Wish it looked more natural. The 996 install looks way cleaner.
