Default Exhaust Upgrade

Hi guys/gals:
would like to upgrade exhaust to:
A; reduce a little weight
B; add some performance sound w/o being obnoxious-droney
C; add a few horsies if possible

I viewed the Tubi cat back (avg. 3,500.00)
I see Shark Werks actually recommends against 200cel cats/aftermarket headers due to the fine tolerances of pressure in stock system.

would like to change the cats and possibly headers too tho, if this would add reliable gains in my target areas. 63,000 miles on odo now.

any thoughts on brand/part renew preference from those who walked the path?
thanks in advance!

Lots of subjectivity here regarding sound. I have a 997.2 with stock side mufflers, center delete, and Fabspeed sport headers with 200 cell HJS cats and very pleased with sound both pitch and loudness. It retained the stock sound pitch just made it louder with a little raspiness/bite at higher RPM which I like. The Tubi system is too deep/low in pitch for my preference. Side muffler delete too loud for my preference with drone. I have zero drone. Center delete alone was better than stock but still pretty quiet. With regards to hp gains I never dyno ed before or after so Can't say.

hey Mike thanks for that info! sounds like I am after exactly what you did. I really appreciate the info and will likely go that route.
Did you get everything from one vendor?
thank you again, robert

Here's a couple vids I made a few years ago. I have the Sharkwerks center bypass and Fabspeed sport header. Bought each directly from them. I bought the Sharkwerks first otherwise I would have just purchased both from Fabspeed.

Each video shows just Sharkwerks center bypass first followed by bypass plus headers..

Loudness is really difficult to tell on video. But, on the video from behind the car in the garage you can judge loudness by listening to exhaust relative to engine whir/whine. On the drive by video, with the car coming towards you and just the center bypass all you hear is tire noise. But with the sport headers you can also hear exhaust sound. Neither one is loud relative to the tire noise and I felt just the center bypass was too quiet and can't be heard from within car (just outside). Inside of car sounded same as stock. With the sport headers you can hear it in the car but not too loud (still quieter than tire noise) and zero drone. Some people don't like the race car raspiness but I love it. It's only heard at above 4000RPM when it comes on to cam.

Another comparison. I test drove a 2014 991.1 C2S the other day. The center bypass alone on the 997.2 sounds almost just like the stock exhaust on the 991.1. Both pitch and loudness. Everybody complained about the 997.2 being too quiet so I think Porsche's solution was pretty close in loudness to just the center bypass with the 991. The sport exhaust on the 991.1 sounded the same loudness as my car with both center bypass and sport headers but a deeper sound closer to the Tubi while my car is definitely a higher pitch. Hope that gives some relativity. Mike.

couldn't access the videos but I think this is the perfect approximate measure of ingredients I would want. mine came with the fabspeed side muffler delete pipes and it was fun for a few days to be the bad boy, but the drone was killing me. I put the original cans back on. it was a hoot to light that thing off, the angry motorcycle from hell sound, but just wasn't liveable. thanks once more!

Sorry. I just changed the video privacy settings. Give it a couple of minutes and try again.

agency power or max-speed motorsports
I wouldnt spend big money on exotic brands, exhaust are just pipes that air goes thru. these are just as good and sound, even better

That. Really. Sucks. Good luck with treatment. Sounds like you're staying positive which is most important. Cancer is a wimp. You'll kick its butt.

I have an 09 S with Sharkwerks center delete and Fister side exhausts (unless you already have PSE) but it saves weight, some power increase according to Sharkwerks and the Fisters really sound great with this combo. Just what I have and like, probably many other great combos out there. fdmotorsports.net has a combo of the sharkwerks/fister for $1155.

cheers Mike! appreciated.
and Jason, I like the looks of that too, but I am inclined to change the cats and headers too, so the Fabspeed is looking like the "one". and the o2 sensors I suppose.......give the girl a proper tweak
