Question for 997.2 gts owners.

Question for 997.2 gts owners.
I own a 2011 997.2 gts with 24k miles. I have had this car for 18 months and love everything about it. I still find myself looking at the 991.1 gts as a future replacement for my current car. As prices come down closer to the $100k mark, I am really tempted to make the switch. I can't predict the possibility of owning both at the same time, even though that would solve my problem. These are my thoughts.
1. I daily drive my car 5-6k a year
2. No track use
3. Not concerned about resale values or deprecation.
4. Very concerned that if I get rid of the 997.2 I will regret it down the road and never be able to find another enthusiast owned perfectly conditioned example and kick myself for not keeping it.
5. I am aesthetically drawn toward these cars and think both are beautiful. Am I making a mistake considering a move to the 991?

991.1 GTS is an empirically better car. 997.2 GTS is a better feeling car. Based on your other criteria (really only 4 makes any sense for a comparison) just drive the 991.1 GTS and if you like it better, buy it.

I will add the 991.1 GTS I drove compared to my 997.1 4S was a not as visceral as I would have expected. Almost a bit too comfortable if that makes sense. I also had a hard time adjusting to the height of the gear shift in the 991; it felt like it should be lower somehow.

This is the first porsche I have owned. I waited a long time before pulling the trigger, and feel like I made a great choice with the 997.2 gts. Unfortunately I can't start a collection of dream cars now, but I can own one. I have had other great cars E90 M3, various other BMW and MB, but non gave me the satisfaction of the gts. Now that I am completely obsessed by this car, I find myself wanting more. My main point of this post is to try and get some perspective. The 997.2 gts was only made for two years and as time goes on they will be harder to find in excellent condition. I know if I drive the 991.1 gts I will love it too. But in 10 years from now will the 997.2 be more special and harder to replace if you wanted to go back in time. I think my plan is keep the 997.2 and somehow convince my family (and myself) that I can add to my collection down the road. Thanks for the therapy session.

I think you will definitely regret giving up this car. It's unique in so many ways, and like me, you seem to love the look. The 991 is just numb to me.
Mine is for sale, but I still go back and forth about selling it. If I had bought it in a 6MT instead of PDK, I don't think I would ever sell it.
Someone is going to get a hell of car with very low miles when they do buy mine.
In your case, I would hold onto it, but I agree with the others that you should still drive the 991.1-- I have heard great things about it.

Just a thought in addition. If you're wanting more, you could try driving the car you already have on track. It's definitely more, and the spending required to feel that you're getting more is small in comparison to another car.
As there is only so much "more" you can even get from a car on the street, regardless of how impressive the car itself is.

personally I would stick with the 997.2 GTS especially if it is a MT (which I do not see you mention)
If I had found the GTS I really wanted I would have been very happy. I was not able to so I got the closest to what I wanted.
Eventually I am hoping to find the right GTS but it has to have a stick.
the only thing I like about the new GTS you can get it with the deleted Sunroof. I would love to have had that on my car.
Either way your money and your decision.

For me, comparing to the 997.2, the 991 is superior in terms of performance, perhaps "comfort", and numbers. But, the 997 wins in terms of FEEL. Not easy to quantify that. The 997 is more analog, less intrusive, more personal. If you're trying to win a race or roll the latest technology... the 991 is your choice. If you yern for a purist driving enthusiast experience. ... then you really are better served with the 997. Either a c2s or gts flavor will be the most rewarding to those in the latter camp. Good luck weighing your choices. Certainly no losers in both camps.

I have read some previous threads about 997.2 vs 991, pros and cons. I believe this thread is less about that, because the 997.2 is already in the hand. For me it's more of a discussion about how you will feel about long term ownership of your 997.2gts well down the road. Maybe the answer is adding an older 911 into the garage, 964 or 993. I bet that would help compliment the 997.2 ownership experience.

I own a 2011 997.2 GTS MT Cab and I absolutely would not part with it unless I had to. I only drive as a fair weather weekend ride. I love everything about it. Ride still has a bit of the classic 911 edginess. Amazing steering, Awesome bulletproof 3.8 liter, great sound, 408hp is plenty for me , great transmission, size is just right/ can really place it where you want it , flickable handling , 997's really capture classic 911 body profile and so on , really feels like a 911.
The 991.1 GTS is a great car. IMO , 991's are a bit too big dimensionally and a bit too refined , handling and luxury wise , for my 911 preferences. Body profile/look/lines create juuuuust a bit too much departure from the classic 911 look. Not so sure I get the extra gear on the MT ? All the same , a great motor and transmission ,awesome NA Boxter 3.8 , awesome sound as well .

Every couple of weeks for the past few months I found myself thinking "geez, I've had my GTS for three years, maybe it's time for something new." Then over the past month I drove a 991.1 S (not a GTS, though), then 991.2 Ss (both rwd and awd versions). I got back in my 6-speed 997.2 GTS, went for a 200-km (distance, not speed) mountain road rip, and decided "nah, I'm keeping this forever." I'm sure the cycle will repeat itself...and one day the outcome may be different.
