997.2 Quest
First post, been reading the forum for awhile but have a couple of questions for those with 997.2s.
I am looking at purchasing my first pcar as a weekend/ track/ occasional use car. I've had an e92 M3 & camaro zl1 previously and ad track/ toy Cars.
Are there any serviceability/ reliability concerns I should be aware of before purchasing? Those of you that track your cars how do they stand up in terms of durability and maintenance?
Any particular areas I should inspect or have a mechanic check out prior to buying a car?
Really looking forward to hearing from everyone regarding their thoughts.

it can cost you alot of money if you buy a bad car. look at the carfax, have a dealer do a complete cpo inspection and have them give you the complete porsche warrantee service record

Just be very thorough with the selection process. Don't rush it. I would get a PPI done by a well trusted Porsche shop. Depending on how serious you are about vetting the car you may also have the paint inspected/metered for previous body work. I took it serious getting my car and didn't cut any corners on paying attention to the service history, ownership history, the PPI, or my personal inspection before purchasing. Do all that (to your own satisfaction).. and I'd say you're good to go.
If you are going with a PDK, I would say (only based on what I've read) that 2009 cars might present a very slightly greater risk for issues with the PDK. But there are precious few folks who've had issues with PDK on any year.

Free advice (& you get what you pay for!), but get all your financing, insurance, etc. lined up before starting the quest in earnest. Lots of stories here about people missing out because they moved too slow. Make a list of must have options, a price you'll be comfortable with, a desired year range and trim levels, drive a few different types at local dealerships, and then when "the one" pops up, pounce!! Call the dealer, put down a deposit to hold the car, drive it, arrange ppi, buy it. Oh yeah, practice grinning from ear to ear, it'll come in useful when you find your unicorn...T
