Hi all. So used to have a Z4, years ago and got the itch again for something a bit faster and yet a convertible. After much thrashing of brain cells and dealing with dealers all over Northern Illinois, I ended up finding this 2009 S all of 2 miles from my house.

Private seller, 50K miles, PDK, Chrono, Leather, etc

Trying to find someone local in Chicagoland to show me how to change the pads (already ordered from SunCoast-thanks to the recommendations here) then I will drive it like I stole it!!

Thanks all for the great info I have already found here.

Beauty! Great wheels. Sometimes it's just meant to be--I found my unicorn 5 miles from me after a very long search! Have fun!

Thanks! Funny you mention the wheels. They actually threw me for a loop as they seemed 'non porsche' at first and almost aftermarket esque (yes technical term).

I was not going to purchase if the owner didn't have originals-until I realized they were.

Still not sold on them completely-but hey I don't seem them when I am driving, and they are slowly growing on me

Congrats. Seems like all Porsche guys come from BMW. Nice find!

There are a ton of you tube videos on how to change your brake pads. I use an EZ Spreader brake tool to compress the pistons but otherwise simple handtools and you can change each corner in maybe 10-12 minutes while taking your time and being careful. Some of the easiest brakes you will ever do

Nice car and welcome to the forum! Greetings from a fellow 997 cab owner, mine also has turbo wheels It's a great car you have and it will do everything from grocery shopping, commuting, cruising on the country side to spirited drives and tracking.

True and I did find them. But I promised myself years ago that I would always leave the safety stuff to the pros. To your point though the videos make it seem soooo easy, so it makes it hard to swallow the rates the dealers wanted just for pads. There was not a one in Chicago that came back less than $800, most were $1200 plus. Just for front pads.

I bought all parts including OEM brakes, sensors, caliper retention spring, brake fluid, and dampers shipped for $490.

So I just wanted someone there to watch and make sure I don't hook up the whatsit to the whoseit and cost myself $4000, or have an accident.

Thanks all for the feedback.

Just to follow up, I had Fischer Automotive do the work and use my parts. They were great getting me into their schedule etc.

Recommended.

Beautiful! I purchased my first Porsche a year ago and can't believe I wait this long to do it. These are great cars - enjoy it in good health!

That's a great wheel. It's a light weight, forged wheel manufactured for Porsche by Fuchs.

Oops Sorry
It was odd timing and location (It was only a few miles from my home)

I think you are/were out west somewhere?
