Would like to replace my frunk, rear lid and license plate lights with LEDs (love the updated lighting look and lower power consumption) any one know if this will cause a problem by causing "bulb out" messages?

 

You won't have any issues. I've replaced all exterior and interior lighting to LEDs...,

use leds that are error free, look on ebay

 

Grab some off eBay or Aliexpress - they're the same as kits sold by stores, just much cheaper.

 

How does it look? Don't want too bright inside or to look like CCFLs.

 

I personnel like it, its much brighter then stock, and clean clear white.
Light the Frunk very well and engine bay.
Dome light is very bright close to too much.

It's the type of lighting i was used to have I'm all my latest new BMW's.

There are some good (read: "cheap") alternatives on ebay so I'll try one and see. Kind of weird that they list replacement bulbs for footwell lights; as far as I know, my car doesn't have them... does it??

 

I thought the same thing about the footwell lights. I was going to check next time I was in car.

Probably easy to mod if had time and patience.
