No - you have to have the dealer do it for the 997.2. That said, the Suncoast updates are a good price, relatively speaking, and seemed worth doing after 6 years.

Just looked on Suncoast site. The updated disc for 2.1 map update is $325. Not sure where the $12.88 is from

The $12.88 is the ridiculously expensive shipping charge. The 997.2 latest update is $269.

It's a bummer that you can't do the PCM 3.0 update without the dealer.

You guys have motivated me to finally pull the trigger and update my original maps on my 2010 C4S Cab. I'm diggin' the relatively decent price of $269 on Suncoast even though I know I'll pay my local Stealership an exorbitant price for the install

Just for laughs....... when you receive the disks, try installing them and see what happens. I would be interested to know if the discs come with installation instructions... reason being: Maybe there is a "mode" that I can set with a Durametric that then enables the disc install.

Regardless, if you can post the dealership price, much appreciated.

Peace

My dealership replied and reaffirmed what was said here to wait for the 2016 release.

FWIIW I've got a great dealership who has always treated me well infact stellar service.

The price is the price y'all.

Yup, I ordered this yesterday and I got the same e-mail form Suncoast this afternoon. I just called them, and they said these are coming directly from the Porsche depot in Atlanta and they did confirm that this is THE latest nav update available (which, according to him at least, comes out generally in March-ish). I sincerely hope that we're not helping them clean out the basement of their old stock before they release a newer version

I still have the factory installed version V in my 2009, and while it may not be up to date with new roads, it works well and is glitch free, including BT. If anyone gets the newest update, I would also appreciate hearing about how the installation went as well as any tangible improvements over the original version.

I am about to order the latest version. I've just imported my car from Europe and need to install the U.S. Maps. I won't be able to comment on content, but will be able to comment on glitches.

Your 997.2 system is not DVD based. It is running off firmware which Porsche controls.

Got my license from Suncoast. It is dated 2015 so I called them. I was told that the dealer downloads the latest version at install. Going to set up an appointment with them. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

upier,

Mine arrived yesterday and I did exactly the same thing .... When I saw the package labeled "04.2015", I called Suncoast with a bit of a salty attitude because I specifically confirmed with them when I ordered it that this package was the LATEST set of maps from Porsche. When I spoke to them yesterday, they confirmed that the code we paid for will pull the last maps from the system, not from the discs that they sent us.

I have my appointment at the Stealership booked for the 13th, and they told me it should be ~1 hour install (@$189/hour). Just have to suck it up and be happy that this is my first nav update since 2010!

Yes, it's a strange process. You bring in the disk to the stealership (along with the activation codes that comes with it) and the tech uses a bunch of thumb drives that they have access to (along with some other codes that are only available to the dealership) to load the update (which can take several hours if it has not been updated in a long time). Still, nice to have a current refresh!
