It's most likely bad motor mounts. It could also be improperly aligned tips.

Might be the engine mounts. Over time and pressure the rubber stretches and elongates. Also you can adjust the tips only by loosening the bolts and hand adjusting the tips.

FYI, I had a similar problem on my 996 C4S. I replaced the worn stock mounts with Wevo semi-solid mounts (yellows). It made a tremendous difference in the car. Not only did it raise the tips back up to the proper position, but it improved the handling of the car and the shifting action. I highly recommend this upgrade. You'll feel a big difference just replacing worn OE mounts with new OE mounts.

It's bad motor mounts I just did mine and they are very easy to do. you can see the before and after and the old and new mounts. I went with OEM manufacture from Pelican Parts.

While it is possible to pivot them way down like that, I assume they weren't like that before. I agree that they are almost certainly indicating the need for new motor mounts. If you watch from behind while revving the engine you'd probably see them twist up and down a lot from the engine torque. If so, you should replace them before the engine drops down on one or both sides and possibly damages something. I had to replace mine at around 42k miles. Mine had one side drooping more than the other though.
