Default Thoughts on 2007 997 Turbo?

Hi all,
I'm a former 996 Turbo owner and I currently own 2013 Ferrari 458 Spider and 2015 M4. I recently purchased the M4 about 3 weeks ago. I really like the car and the technology and performance that it brings for a daily driver. However I'm looking to go back to a Turbo. I've got my eye on 2007 997 Turbo with 20K miles. I might trade in the M4 if the price is right. It might be a close comparable trade-in value. I know the performance of a Turbo is far better than the new M4. Technology wise, the M4 is loaded.

My question for 997 Turbo owners, are these still reliable cars? I know my old 996 was bullet proof. I'm sure 997 is even better. Any issues you have with 997 Turbo and what I should be looking for?

from a financial perspective the 997.1 Turbo 6 speed will hold or go up in value, especially the S version while the M3/M4 will decrease in value. the 997.2 is nicer but has the newer 9A1 motor which can't make as much power reliably.

The Mezger motors are very reliable, no issues as you experienced in your 996 TT.

Look for a 2009. It is basically the 997.1 but it has the 997.2 Navi/Technology Unit which is updated.

Which would you take? 2009 as you suggested but higher mileage or 2007 with lower mileage. On second thought 2009 had 7 owners! Wow!

looks like a $3K difference between the two for about an 18K mileage difference. I'd likely go for the lower mileage one, but those photos are horrible and i'd need to see in person.

It's generally reliable but there are some issues that can be quite expensive to repair

Did the same and traded the M4 for a 997.1. In general for a car of this level it very reliable. The M3/M4 have started having the crank issues creeping up at higher power levels.

The 2009 turbo is desirable, but I wouldn't avoid a good 2007 or 2008 car. My 2008 turbo has been very reliable so far.

2009 TT has the same engine as 2007TT and 2008TT. Whatever fit the price/color combo/miles/price gets the vote.

That is correct.

Many people like the 2009 because it has PCM 3.0 as opposed to PCM 2.1 found in the 2007 and 2008 cars. At this point, PCM 3.0 is outdated too, so I don't think it makes much difference. The center stack has black plastic instead of gray plastic. Other than that, the 2009 car has the option for ventilated seats and for center lock wheels.

I'm not an owner but I have researched them. The basic components (engine, trans, driveline) are rock solid but they do have some weak points. The coolant fittings in the heads can eventually leak and the rear spoiler actuators can fail. Both are a $2-3k fix. Spark plugs/coils are pricey to replace too. Otherwise they are pretty trouble free and no doubt the most reliable super car out there. Search around on the turbo forum. Lots of good info there.

Dump the BMW asap - that car is loosing money every minute. Get yourself a 2007-2009 911 Turbo - excellent choice.

Seems like low mileage 997.1TT are going up in value. Get them while you still can.

Anyone live in Kansas City near Pure Pursuit Automotive that can go check out the condition of this car for me?
