Default 997.1 Carrera S Cylinder Bore Scope

I'm getting this done today along with new plugs and compression test.

I've had my 06 Carrrera S for over a year and am doing this due to oil consumption greater than I'm used to in my Audi's and the miles on the car at 86K, as well as my general paranoia about my engine due to being on this forum too much. LOL

Will post results when I find out, here and in the poll section. I'm on pins and needles!

All flat engines have bore marks - most are not meaningful. Flat engines do use more oil. Drive the car and enjoy it.

Well...flat engines do smoke at start up more than others, since the drain down is almost nill.

That said, my 6 cylinder Goldwing uses none to speak of that I can detect, and neither does my 225K mile VW Westy Camper (2.1 liter, 1991 model). Both run on Shell Rotella 15w-40 T6 full syn.

Our 58K mile 997 MT Cab C4 (3.6) uses about 1 mark on the readout in 2000 miles. Both exhausts are clean and there is no residue on the tips.

Well it turns out no scoring and compression is great across the board, and AOS is fine also. Consumption is what it is I guess, just have to get used to it.

Jason, did you or the mechanic measure the crankcase vacuum? If so, can you share the reading? Many thanks.

He measured the vacuum and it was well within spec. I'll ask him for the number tomorrow.
