The elegant 1-2 shift
Gears 2-6 are relatively close. 1-2 has the greatest ratio spread. Having said that I honestly can't say that I've noticed this to be a problem. If you are at full throttle elegance is not an issue. I have on occasion reverted to old school drag racing technique and keep throttle wide open as in a "speed shift". (Not proud of this mind you but I did wake up my instructor at P driving school
A bit violent but you can rip off quite a very quick shift ( if you know what you are doing...disclaimer here
At sane speeds practice should allow for a smooth upshift without embarrassing yourself. Hand/foot coordination and practice. If you are experiencing jerkiness you are not allowing revs to drop enough to match forward speed in the higher gear. If revs are dropping too much shift faster. You will get better.
