Looks more like a 993 everyday?

They barely look similar... anybody with Stevie Wonders glasses can see that. Heck, the fuel cap isn't even located on the same side!

The 993 is a transitional car. The 997 is the last of the water-cooled with a shorter WB, as some of us consider the 991 a different car - long WB/GT-like. The G-series is the last of the 901 series. There's a connection - 2 bookends.
If one wants a great water-cooled - the 997 it is. If one wants a great air-cooled one needs to go much further back than a 993.

LMAO... you guys have really been drinking way too much of your own kool-aid. . But whatever makes you feel good I guess.
However, positing that the 996 was not a transitional 911, in every aspect, is absolutely retarded. as the the 997 shares more in common with 996 than it ever did with the 993. The 996 was an absolute departure for Porsche in design, performance, and engineering for the 911. It's following iteration was the 997. The 997 obviously did not follow the 993, and has very little in common with it [except where the engine is located] and the last I checked the 996 has it in the same place and is engineered and built almost identically with only some displacement and small internal design differences, particularly when you consider the WB examples of the 996 which were the predecessors of the 997.

And yeah, you agree with me the 997 has little to do with the 993. Some think that because its interior dash changed from the 996 and has some air-cooled gens cues. Same with headlights.
My point above was that if one wants at a pair of air-cooled and water-cooled cars - take the bookends G, and 997.2.
But... more than anything do not get upset. It's just my opinion.

"Transitional" for me means evolution. The 996 was a major departure, thus not transitional, more like a major inflection change. I had a 996 too - a C4 just like yours...

noun
1.
any process of formation or growth; development:
the evolution of a language; the evolution of the airplane.
2.
a product of such development; something evolved:
Thus the 996 was the transition (the changed 911), and the 997 is the evolution of the 996.

However, the birth of the 997 WB evolved from the 996 C4S and the 996TT not the other way around.

Thanks for the definitions. But... by WB I mean wheelbase...
