Engine rebuild after bore scoring
Posted this on the Cda forum but thought I would do it here on the 997 board as well since I shared the bore scoring story
After getting the bad news I reviewed my options and am having the engine rebuilt by a shop here in Toronto. The block will go to LN in the US for upgraded nickie sleeves and IMS. Plus the 4L bore....
Will talk to the builder about other options while its getting the rebuild including an IPD plenum and gt3 TB. Suggestions welcome
Am not trying to go too crazy but may as well maximize my potential since I am going through the process
Thanks to Jake Raby for a kind offer and advice
Cheers

Are you getting the IMS Solution? I went with that, figuring as long as I was already spending a chunk of change and planning to keep the car indefinitely, may as well kick in another grand and be done with the IMS issue once and forever. In any case good luck to you.
Thanks
Yeah The Solution seems better than any of the other fixes as it basically reverts it to the tried-and-true plain bearing config like the Metzger engines. I didn't care about boosting displacement so I got a stock 3.6L from RND and have been back on the road for over a 1000 miles now. As long as everything was apart I got new transmission mounts (motor mounts had been replaced recently) and clutch fork as those showed wear, and a new DM flywheel as the car has over 60K and it was never replaced (the clutch itself only has 30K miles on it and had virtually no discernible wear).

Will see about the clutch etc once its all apart

Its cheaper than what the dealer quoted for giving me the same engine again (and the possibility of the same problems again - no thanks)
