Default Upgrading to 991!

Hey all - haven't posted in a while but I just listed my 2005 997 which is in absolutely fantastic condition and has been completely problem free for the 3 years I've owned. It has been an incredible car but it's time to upgrade to the 991. If you or anyone you know is looking for a great reliable, fully documented, no stories 997, take a look at the classifieds. You won't find a cleaner 997 with complete service history, completed 60k mile service, new tires, new brakes and regular oil changes and maintenance.

Thanks!

Nice looking car! I just bought a similar 997, 2005 in arctic silver for a similarly great price! This is a great first Porsche for someone. GLWS!

I couldn't help think the same - bloated VW whale (unless he is going into 991 GT3 - then it is indeed an upgrade).

Funny re the 'upgrading' reaction. I agree it is not an upgrade for pure 911 fans, but there are fewer and fewer these days. The 991 is a 'better' car than the 997 by most performance/stability/comfort metrics, but the 997 is more 911.

But I urge the OP to look into the 991.2S a truly upgrade compared to the 991S, notwithstanding the turbo change. Faster and nimbler, if equipped with RWS, which is PAG's way to mitigate the 991 WB increase which made the 991 less 911.

LOL...not an upgrade. I own a bunch of cars...the decision to not "upgrade" to a 991 is just that...a choice.

lol at all the comments, reminds me when I moved out the hood, all the neighbors that I thought were friends, gave me the middle finger and told me to fock off and you don't belong here. Everyone was bitter that I was moving on to bigger and better things. I have no problem with the 991, I think it looks fantastic, more exotic, and a better performer. The 991.2 looks gorgeous in Miami blue, had the opportunity to drive that yesterday. 20 seconds of overboost was pretty cool, you can actually feel it. Congrats OP, I don't see too many people going to a 991 and coming back, there's less than a handful of them and everyone keeps talking about those few.

Enjoy the 991.2, there are a lot of great feedback about that 911 generation; Hope I can join the 991 club soon. And don't worry about the comments of the "fundamentalists" of the 997s...something quite similar happened to Bob Dylan when the decided to play an electric guitar...

When a brand turns your dream car into a pile of bloated fat whale $hit you're not going to have a lot of likes.

Fortunately for me the 997 series was the most successful Porsche series ever made with many examples to choose from, so I should be set for the rest of my life.

Congrats to the OP for getting a 991! It keeps the brand alive! I hope they sell as many 991's as they can make so that Porsche can rely less on the sale of SUV's to say afloat.

Funny, I think the 997 is big and bloated compared to the air coolers. But they've certainly grown on me so much that I can't stop searching for another one.

Don't worry, the cycle will continue. The new 992 will launch in a few years, and 991 owners will criticize it for being too big, being a GT car, and claim that the 991 is much more raw and visceral. They will claim that the 991 is the last real 911.

Lather, rinse, repeat....
