how many X51 equipped automobile owners out there, in here, and is there an official # of factory spec'ed cars, i know some were sold/added later....i am likin' mine more every day, also, i find that the sport exhaust, which i leave engaged having disconnected the relay, has a sound that to me beats aftermarkets costing mucho dinero...
oops, don't know how those got to be upside down and don't know how to correct either, so, y'know, have to deal widit...
also couldn't find the other pics i wanted to use,

Wait, you started a conversation about x51 and you don't know what. It is?
Search on Carrera power kit, see the x51 defined thread in this subforum
From memory:
Carbon air box
Larger plenum
Polished intake and ports
Headers
3rd radiator
Magnet that attracts easy women
Wait maybe not that last one

Kkswow is from Germany, hence I think there is something slightly lost in translation with his English. I'm sure he knows what the X51 code denotes, I believe he is wondering if it is actually an acronym or something like that.
My take - unless there is inside knowledge of Porsche option codes, probably the X51 was just assigned relatively randomly, although of course the 996 Turbos had the X50 code for the upgraded items on those cars.

Option codes follow the I??? format. Some are I and three digits (I480 is 6-speed manual transmission). Some are IX and two digits (IX51 is the 250kW power kit). Some are IX and two letters (IXCZ is the OEM short shifter). There might be other combinations too but they all follow the I??? format.
Here's a sampling. The full list is towards the end of the PET diagrams .pdf files.
