996.2 or 964.
Just my $.02...
Sorry to read of your awful experience. Worse than a Range Rover.

Lighten up Francis.

Oh, I understand what's going on now - someone saying something you deem uncool means you have carte blanche to unload both barrels.

Careful, friend - the 997 moderators aren't quite as tolerant of this type of behavior as those for other water-cooled forums...

Did you happen to notice that OP agreed with the sentiment, indicating that next time he too would go with a 997.2 (or a 991)...or were you too busy firing up the flame thrower?

I purchased mine from a P Dealer, didn't do PPI, hell I wasn't even on the forums before I purchased and I have had nothing but pleasure with my car.

Every manufacture has problems...not one is exempt from it. It's how it's handled that matters. You need help on a purchase...just ask here...you will get plenty of help.
Same here I wasn't on the forums, didn't do a PPI, bought the car site unseen while I was overseas from a private seller. Had 3 or 4 lengthy conversations with the owner and went with my gut. Wired the money and came home a month later to a mint condition 997S.

Would I do that again? No way. But I was right that time. OP you should hunt for another when you can, worth it.

I literally planted a kiss on her before walking away for the last time. Had such plans for her up to a point of retrofiting pasm, even got all Porshce parts to do so. But i guess it wasn't meant to be.

Going to take it easy for a little and concentrate on trying to sell our two condos to move in to something with a garage so i can have another 911. This time as a second car so i wouldn't have to worry about getting to work should anything happen to it.
Got some stuff that im going to throw up for sale. Exhaust, TB/Plenum, B&M SSK, Most H.U.R. complete AWD PASM system (997.1). Let me know if anyone wants anything before i put it up in classifieds.

This is not a good bye, but a short brake.
Sorry to hear you're parting with her. Will PM about the TB/plenum.

no, dunce.

The issue with that individual's post was that he stated that the OP's issues were the reason he didn't buy a 997.1, which is total bollocks. On the whole, 997.1s are generally reliable cars. The OP had what is generally considered to be an outlying experience. To say that someone avoided a 7.1 because one guy got a lemon is nonsense.

As a kid in Lafayette, Indiana, I used to watch Cowboy Bob's cartoon show. He closed every show by saying, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."

I've always found that to be good advice.

Sure, the post could be viewed as insensitive to the OP but to hurl insults is worse.
