Default Trying to purchase a 997

Another Canadian just trying to buy a 997. I am on my 3rd ppi now and every single one has come back with bore scoring issues. I am not looking at the cheapest 997 on Autotrader it's vehicles that have the options I am looking for. Looking is the fun part I understand but paying $400 for each ppi not so much haha. I have tried to tell the seller what is up with his car at the end of the ppi and they will just not listen the price stays the same maybe down a few grand but no where I feel comfortable putting out an additional 20k for a rebuild.

Anyways that is the end of my rant if anyone has any good suggestions I'm all ears

Thanks again
Neil

Reading the D-***** thread and listening to Guru Jake, it seems as though it might be worth the effort to go south to get away from cold weather issues. Could be fun to drive one home from a long distance

I was also reading that as well this morning and that I didn't think was an issue with the 997 but looks now like it apparently is. Anyways I have thought of going south but 1 our dollar currently is very poor and the 2 here in Toronto I know of shops that I trust to have a very detailed ppi done if I go elsewhere I won't have the warm and fuzziness about the shop that I do not have any previous relationship with.

That is a great thought, maybe contact him direct and see if he has a customer ready to sell. That would probably be my route if I had to do it again.

buy a newer less mileage car, take the money you are going to spend on a new engine and buy a better car

Buy a car from Vancouver, bc
The weather here is mild
You can get a solid ppi at Scan Import Auto in North Vancouver.

+1.

Buy from an authorized or reputable independent dealer. I bought mine at Weissach knowing they checked the car thoroughly (including a borescope), put a lot of work replacing/fixing what was needed (also documented), which was well worth the slight preice premium.

I ended up today with one of the 997's I had inspected we agreed on a price with the engine issue this one had very minimum scoring on cylinder 6 and that was it. Very clean car base 997 seal grey on black sports seats with 19" lobster claws red calipers and 90k will post pics this week glad to finally be a part of the 997 club I have been looking for some time now.

Cool! Let us get pics and what is the advice on cylinder 6? Just leave it alone? any symptoms? Will it get worse or is it a one time damage?

Yes I agree this was my first choice second was guards red and third was speed yellow. No offence to anyone but a lot of black 911's out there but I am just to ocd for a black car haha saying that my wife has no choice on colours she just gets a new A4 every 4 years lease but only ibis white as she doesn't even wash it apparently that's my job but I can get pretty much any marks or minor scratches out of white with a buffer.
