My lug nuts look awful. As does the hub. Is there a particular paint that is better for this? Seems like a great DIY for a simpleton like me. Thanks for any input.

Bolts...but we all know what you meant. I think USMC_DS1 posted a DIY on how to clean - not sure if he discussed paint but you can try a search,
Texas? You don't know what rust is. I'm with nwGTS, in salty Chicago. As to the above chrome comment, it also depends on who is working on your car. A garage that Hammers everything on and off with air impact guns? Nothing is going to survive that.
I'm tremclad/rustolium, wire wheel when needed.
Hand thread, and cordless for me.
Rustoleum or duplicolor. Both are great. You can go fancy but why? You'll need to touch them up yearly depending on your driving habits anyway.
Yep, got a spray can of Rustoleum at home depot and spray away. If you don't take them on and off all the time, the paint wills stay, otherwise it's just as easy to spray them again.
You guys need to sand them down a bit and get them nice and smooth before primer and paint. Also never use an impact wrench to loosen or tighten lug bolts!!!
Those look like lug nuts, not bolts!
I have bolts on my 997, had them on my previous 996 as well.
Very confusing! I thought all 911s had the same wheel bolts.
Maybe there are holes cut in the cardboard with the bolt ends sticking thru!
Duh?

He made a DIY paint stand to hold the bolts while spraying the paint.
