Question Who has the best price for the PCM 2.1 Map update 4.1?

Who has the best price for the PCM 2.1 Map update 4.1?

Just like the title says.

Sun coast has it for $320 or $325 or something like that but they also charge shipping.

Has anyone have any knowledge of a cheaper place?

Thanks in advance!

I think it requires a dealer installation regardless of where the update is purchased? Would be curious to see what the dealers are charging to do this across the country..

Agree with vg247 that you should give your local dealer a shot at it since they or someone with their equipment will need to install it. If you have a PCA membership then most dealers will give you 15% off parts. Can't hurt to ask. Beware of the low-ball prices that appear to be illegal copies or old versions that you don't want.

Dealer installation isn't necessary. I've updated the firmware and map software in my Cayenne and my 997.

Thank you for the correction and teaching me something Dennis. Sorry for the disinformation OP. It may still be worth checking with your dealer to see what the discounted PCA price is if you are a member. If you aren't, the savings on this one purchase may cover the cost of your first year.

No problem. As I think about it though, I do believe you are correct in that older versions of the PCM software may need dealer installation. Also, if you install it yourself, you need to follow the procedure correctly or you could have problems. It's recommended that the installation is done with the engine running until the update is complete. Interrupting the power to the PCM dduring the installation can damage the PCM unit.

No worries!

Larchmont Porsche in NY wanted $800 or something like that!

Suncoast want $325 for the disks, but they have a high shipping price.

1) Out of curiosity, does anyone know if its just the maps that come with that upgrade or does it include firmware updates for the Bose amp, phone and NAV dvd player?

I called Suncoast to ask, but they said that they didn't know and couldn't open up the box to check... bummer!

I got my Map update from Suncoast and had to have the dealer install it - as specified on the Suncoast site. That was for the PCM 3 on a 997.2 car. I had not found a better price. As for install, I think it was about an hour labor or so and also resulted in updating the PCM software as well as the Maps. I'm happy I did it.
