Default Clear Side Marker - Chrome Bulb Flashes Amber

My first - hopefully helpful - post to the 997 board.

I bought clear side marker lights for my newly acquired 2011 997.2 C4S but of course they come with the orange bulbs installed that look so-so through the lens.

I searched for the chrome bulbs like in my 993 turn signal that flash amber but are invisible through the lens.

Finally found them here so I thought I'd post this so it shows up in the archives. ECS Tuning - nice guys and very helpful.

Glad to help. These bulbs should get rid of that "egg yolk" look.

Any recommendations for a source for the clear side markers? How hard it is to replace them?

Easy to replace - even some videos if you search. Source from:
Suncoast
Sunset
Sonnen
Pelican
FVD
Many others

You can find them on ebay around $40-$50 & they're LED too. They're clip on, just pull the side out. On dark cars like yours, I would get the smoke version. Look better, IMO.

get all that stuff on ebay
the chrome would be fine but its going to be a yellow burning light. That defeats the purpose.
you need the leds that burn a xenon blue color to match the headlights. I use 6000k led
You can also NOW buy the chrome turn signal bulbs (2 per side) or use leds which gets rid of the worst yellow of all. But you have to take the bumper off to replace them.

Will any of the LED versions throw Error codes? That's the last thing I want to deal with.

They should all have resistors built-in by now. So no error code.

Tell me more about the chrome turn signal bulbs. I looked when I first got the car a couple months ago but couldn't find any replacements for the front turn signals.

That is probably one of the better ways to get pulled over at night, especially for those of us that have the lights set to be turn signals. So many cars today have turn signals that you can see from the side I'm surprised it isn't the default.

Agreed. Also, while I am all for LEDs and have replaced most all of the bulbs in my car with them, IMO, replacing the flasher bulbs with LEDs that flash blue instead of amber looks like a mid 2000's riced out Civic. Not only is it illegal, it cheapens the car.
