Theft attempt - Door handle key cylinder dead
Some theft tried to open the car forcing the door key, it is good for nothing now. Any idea if Porsche would replace this for one that works with the same key?

Bummer, sorry to hear. Not sure on your question specifically. But the good news is the key blades themselves are cheap. It's the remote key fob head and the ignition switch with that get expensive. It's real easy to swap a new metal blade into your existing key fob.
Likewise getting a second key blade cut for your spare remote is fairly cheap too, perhaps under $30 or so. The hardest part is finding a locksmith who can cut it. Your local hardware store will not be able to do it. I've had better luck getting Porshce keys cut VW dealerships than Porsche ones.

Post the information the dealer provides to you here... interesting stuff.
The key mechanism has nothing to do with the radio in the key but is related one-to-one to the key blade. Good news is that you don't have to pay for programming or the key radio, just the blades.
I don't know if the lock mechanism can be modified to accept the old keys or not, else they will have to cut you new blades. The blades are easily separated from the radio part in the key assembly.
Good luck, and let us know the pricing options.
Peace

They should be able to match a lock to your key so you don't have to replace the other lock for the ignition. I'm sure it will be three times more than it should be but what else can you do?

You might want to try it and see if it works. Bought a used 2007 TT - 1 original key and dealer provided a 2nd key. 1st key worked in the ignition switch and started the car but would not unlock the door or the glove box. Dealer seemed to think that at some point the door and glove box locks were changed. Both of us were surprised.

If the car sits long enough (week?) without use, the car will power down and then you will have to use the mechanical door lock to wake up the car - and the the remote button to authenticate.

Bought the cylinder from Vertex, they said it will be the same as the one broken. No new key needed.
I'll let you know next week. I'm installing that, new windshield and new exhaust on monday.
UPDATE: everything worked great, same key is being used for the new cylinder.
