Default Center brake light replacement?

Does anyone here know how to get the center stop amp assembly removed to replace the LED strip? The three torx bolts under the engine cover don't appear to be the only retention, and I don't want to just pull on the part and risk damaging it without knowing which way it comes loose.

Are there other fasteners from underneath? If so, how do you access them? Does it just slide out by pushing forward or backward?

Thanks in advance.

I answered my own question. To document it:

1: Open engine cover
2: Remove 3 torx bolts from the bottom of the center brake light shroud.
3: Inside the car, remove rear inner panel from under the rear window. There are 5 clips across the top of the panel, and two guide posts at the bottom corners
4: On each side near the end of the shroud there are round sound-deadening caps. Under these caps are long threaded fasteners that are part of the shroud. Remove the 10mm nuts from these bolts.
5: Lift the shroud straight up so that you can reach the openings in the back of the shroud.
6: Working from one end, squeeze together the retaining clips holding the LED assembly to the shroud. There are three on each side. In the middle, there are two white spring-loaded wedge-shaped buttons that push inward towards the center of the assembly to release. While squeezing the white buttons, pull the LED assembly straight out of the shroud, being careful not to crimp the wiring.
7: Remove the electrical connector from the LED assembly.
8: Carefully reassemble in reverse order using a new LED assembly.

I hope this is useful to someone at some point in the future.

Thanks - I also have a 997.1, though a Targa. I have some condensation in the light and want to replace it. But I couldn't figure out how to remove it....will try your approach.

thanks

OP: Sorry I didn't see your message earlier. Patriot993 and anyone else interested... if you would like some photos of what FullThrottle64 figured out and documented above you can find them in post #18 of my thread here: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...rera-2.html#18

awesome! thanks. I had searched awhile back and didn't find anything on this topic...should have searched later in 2015 and would maybe have found your post.

Something for me to do next weekend...I want to take the light out to at least see if I can figure out how water is getting in. Water never is a good thing and my fear is a small issue will turn into a big one unless I get it sorted out.
