ipod touch won't charge
OK i did the research and I am confused
I have a 2009 997 with the ipod interface and came with a cable. I plugged in the old 2nd gen ipod touch and it would not charge. Did some research and found that there are different ipod cables based on how the phone charges. So i went inside and got my kids 4th gen ipod touch and still no charging.
Do I need an older/different cable?

You did not specifically mention the Y connector. If you are using a non Porsche cable without the Y it might not work. I don't have a Touch, but remember that the old Iphones required that both prongs of the Y must be plugged in to charge. That is both the USB connector and the round connector.
I think the Touch would be the same since I think that the side USB provides the charge. If you are already using the Y connection, there may be a fuse.

It happened to me with 2009 C4S and Y OEM cable. I plug both the USB and DIN then the ipod (30 pin). The contacts are known to be fragile. Clean-up and retry. Finally it worked. I bought a Scosche ipod 30 pin adapter because I read that some Apple connectors changed but I did not need that.
The single cable that came stock with the interfaces on the 997.2 initially charged via the 30pin's 12vDC charging pin(s). Then Apple dropped using those pins in newer iWidgets and so they are no longer going to get charged by that cable.
The newer Y cable plugs into the DIN port for normal control but the USB end goes to the USB port to get its 5vDC to charge on the 5vDC pin(s) of the 30 pin connector - and will charge all iWidgets.
