PPI Results - Need your opinion
Hi All,
Have been looking at a 2008 C2S with 53K kms. Had a PPI done by my Indy and here are the results. I would like your expert opinion on the items identified if this vehicle should be purchased or not.
front rotors 32.43 limit is 32 - will this require a rotor replacement in the very near future?
rear rotors 27.30 limit is 26.6 - - will this require a rotor replacement in the very near future?
rear pads are at 50%
front pads are at 60%
minor oil sweat from valve cover gasket left bank
hood repaired, hit/repair right - not disclosed during sale
side lower rocker panel damage front bumper, missing bolts, bad paint job - not disclosed during sale
minor scratches under pan
rear suspension has after-market track bar
park brake needs adjustment
check engine light misfires on cylinder 1,2 and 4 - how serious is this issue?
fault codes for air bag
battery is good but low, charge right now at 12.06volts
Thank you all, I really appreciate your feedback.

pass for this:
minor oil sweat from valve cover gasket left bank
hood repaired, hit/repair right - not disclosed during sale
side lower rocker panel damage front bumper, missing bolts, bad paint job - not disclosed during sale
that said if the car is priced right that maybe a different story... I would not buy that car.

Some things are expected for a used car such as needing brakes, new battery and maybe coil packs (misfires). The valve cover oil leak would worry me a bit. But the undisclosed accident damage would worry me a lot, especially with poorly done repairs. Are you really prepared to redo the known damage, and possibly pay even more out of pocket for the not yet discovered damage?
Pass on this car. Pass on this seller.
And this is exactly why you do a PPI, money well spent.

Curious how much they were asking. Yesturday I just bought a 2007 C4S with 62000 km in Toronto. PPI on mine showed rear main seal sweating and slight pulsation on front rotors at highway speed.

I had my RMS slightly leaking last year and had it replaced at the dealers expense. Tranny needed to be dropped. If you don't me asking, what did you end up paying for your C4S?

I ended up paying $52000 plus tax after getting $1000 off toward those couple repairs.
The car is Balsic Black with Black interior, paint 10/10 interior 9/10
Sport seats, and sport chrono
2007 C4S with clean carfax

The seller was asking $65K which I negotiated down to $60K, which I thought was reasonable for a 2008 with 53K kms.
But with all the issues identified on the PPI, I would not touch this vehicle even at $50K. Especially, since this is not my last P-car nor is this a track only car. Eventually I would like to sell this car, and I don't want to be the one having a conversation with the potential buyer explaining what was fixed when I myself don't have an idea of the damage itself.

Just curious what the seller said when/if you shared the results with him/her.
On a more general note, prior to taking the car to the PPI I assume you agree on a sale price with the seller. Do you (anyone reading this) also agree to the stipulation that if something comes up the seller would be at least open to renegotiating the sale price?
Thanks,
QK
