Default Universal Audio Interface retrofit?

I'm assuming the Universal audio interface (Part no. 997 044 902 34) can be retrofit to a 997.2. The Tequipment website http://content2.us.porsche.com/prod/...rm&country=usa lists it for $470.27 excl. tax (not sure what installation costs would be).

Has anyone done this? Right now, I plug my iPhone into the cigarette lighter jack for power (don't have Navigation).
I'd appreciate any comments as to if this is a reasonable thing to add to my relatively plain vanilla (OK, it's really black) 911C and if it's worth the $500+ it will cost?

The prior owner of my car added it and I have the receipt, he paid $597.24 for the parts and $374.40 for labor at a Porsche dealer. With tax it was just over $1,000. I use it a little but because most of my trips are less than 30 miles, I either have the radio off or I just listen to sports talk radio or music if my daughter/wife are with me. I wouldn't pay $1,000 just to have that.

Oh, and just so you know... you need a special cord to be able to charge the phone and play music at the same time and right now they still only have the iphone 4 version, nothing for the iphone 5 (not sure what android guys do). You can buy the apple adapter but its kind of a pain for me because I have to take the iphone out of the case to use the adapter... that's why I generally just don't use it.

Here is another thread on what a lot of guys do and links to the cable:

Thanks for the update on this. I find the PCM 3.0 in my car is pretty frustrating as I lack the interface connection. I checked with Sunset and they want $437 for it and by the time I get it back into Canada it would likely be over $700 thanks to our useless Canadian dollar. They didn't give me an estimate for the install and reprogramming but assume it will be about 3 hours.
So, well over $1000 just to play my iPod in the car. I think if I'm going to spend that kind of cash I'll rip the POS out and put in something from Pioneer or Kenwood.
One thing that I struggle with is that I can't get my iPhone 6 Plus to connect with the PCM yet my son gets in the car with his iPhone 6 and it recognizes it instantly.
Anybody else having similar issues?
Cheers, Scott

It's $429.95 on Suncoast. http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/99704490234.html I too have been looking for a cheap alternative to play my ipod in my Universal Audio Interface-less 997.2. I don't want to change the PCM to aftermarket. So far no luck.

I wonder if an audioshop would be able to install the OEM Porsche Universal Audio Interface, instead of paying an arm at dealership for the install. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Apparently you need the Porsche PIWIS system to make the changes. Don't know if an audio shop would make the investment for such a small customer base.

sounds like folks without the UAI upgrade don't have another way of streaming music from their iphone. Does the car have an auxiliary port anywhere?

There are a bunch of ways to stream music and take calls. Several of which are inexpensive and pretty high quality. Check out Tranzit Blu as an example

I had a MObridge system in my 997.1. It worked very well for handsfree calling and for streaming music via bluetooth. It integrated nicely into the existing PCM unit, so it looked like a factory installation. It wasn't as cheap as the Tranzit Blu. I preferred it because of the integration and the fact that it tapped into he MOST fiber optic ring as opposed to FM modulated systems.
