Default OT: Durametric 6 not working on Windows 10

I went to open my Durametric software this afternoon and it gave a brief message to the effect that the software has 'stopped working'. I tried on another computer with Windows 10 and got the same message. A third computer with Windows 7 (and an older version of the Durametric software) works fine. I've been using the Durametric software with Windows 10 since last summer without issue. I think Windows 10 may have updated and changed something that is affecting Durametric. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and, if so, if they found a solution.

Try uninstalling most recent Win 10 updates and see if that help. Certain KB's can cause some software issues.

I wouldn't uninstall Win10 updates, if anything you should be sure that you have all of the latest updates. Have you tried running the program in compatibility mode for Win8 or Win7? Right-click on the program executable that you run and in the properties there's a compatibility tab where you can set it to run in compatibility mode.

Thanks Doug. The earliest post I saw about this issue was in August 2015 so hopefully Durametric have figured it out by now.

What is the difference between Durametric 5 and 6? Still waiting for the cable to arrive. Installed 6 on my MacBook Pro running Windows 10 using Parallels a few days ago and it opened normally.

It worked fine for me just last week where I checked out a 997.2 a friend was interested in.

Win 10, latest updates, Durametric v. 6.5.1.7, brand new Asus higher-end laptop. I set no compatibility modes.... just installed Durametric... no problems.

I found Win 10 a great system and works with all my esoteric photography and graphics tools. I am very satisfied with Win 10.

Peace

My laptop is quite old and not powerful so that may be the reason.

I heard back as follows:

"Thank you for contacting Durametric. We are not aware of any issues as you describe. but to correct the trouble you might try re-installing the software fresh with the Durametric cable disconnected from the computer (first uninstall the Durametric program, if necessary). After the program is successfully installed, connect the Durametric cable to the car and computer and allow Windows a few moments to install the hardware. Once this is complete, the program should open without more trouble."

I had opened the program without having cable attached to the car and computer. I've always been able to do it this way in the past. Anyway, I didn't uninstall the program, but went to our Cayenne and connected the cable to the car, then to the computer, and then opened the program and it worked fine. Then I disconnected everything, restarted the computer, and opened the program (without the cable attached) and it opened fine....go figure. So, in case anyone else has this issue, try connecting the cable before opening the program.

Thanks for sharing this. I have not had the connection problem you initially described, but if I do in the future, I'll try your remedy.
