an engine drop each time the car is shut down is prob safest course of action as to not warm any of the ancillary components while oil is not flowing.

Must be, as it is only 4 bolts only.

Everybody is free to do what he or she believes is best.
Different story with an air (oil) cooled engine as there is no water to take the heat away. As soon the engine is stopped, that is it.
