After your patch, did you have any vibration as this would indicate a cord was severed?

It will be interesting to know if the patch was done incorrectly. When I read BLOWOUT, I thought rubber everywhere, steel belt, rim ground down to the spokes.
To me this looks like another flat. I'm not suggesting it wasn't scary. The more miles you do, the more the chances. Looks as if there was no damage to your car.
My ski buddy had six flats last year. Bad luck for him. Six new tires purchased.

Also, are you certain it was the plug and patch that failed? You may have simply had another flat in a different area on the same tire. What evidence demonstrated that the flat came from the plugged/patched area?

This. Improper repair.

Ugh- someone here called it and I would have never believed in two weeks the same tire would get hit twice, but it did. The patch was holding fine. After I got it home it occurred to me I should check all the tires and it looks like I have a metal fragment in the right front! There must have been metal debris on I95 I drove through. South Florida had it in for that tire :-(

Thanks for the update. I hesitated to post my scepticism that the plug blew out. Stuff can happen, I understand that but I've plugged dozens of tires - not even a plug-patch/mushroom patch and not had a problem.

Glad it all worked out for you.

thanks for the update. glad we know that the patch/plug was fine.

think of it this way, had u bought a new tire 2 weeks ago, it would be completely toast by now.

I don't know but the plug repair should be a temporary thing. Get a new set.

> Florida

You need to get out of there ASAP.

Getting a new set of tires if you get one puncture is a little extreme, no? Find a good quality used tire of the same model.

I'm now addicted to the warm weather after living in NY state most of my life. I'm cold when it gets into the low 70's now

Thanks for the update. I have plugged my 911 tires myself and never had any problems. The worst that I knew would occur would be slow leaks. So it is good to know what happened in your case.

The plug/patch didn't fail. Replacing tires because of a plug/patch is a huge waste of resource.

Unless tracking/exceeding 80mph/the planets align and the increased gravity causes excess pressure/etc.

If you specifically meant a plug only, I'm not inclined to argue.
