The 997 Targa Thread
I thought it would be neat to have a thread for all of the targa (and targa wannabe) guys.
Questions, issues, fanboi posts, pics, anything else welcome in this thread. I think it's one of the more under-appreciated 911 variants out there.
I've had my 2009 Targa 4S since May, and I love the car more every day. So far, the car is stock, except that I replaced the Steering wheel with the Sport wheel with paddle shifters.
The hatchback is great. Makes the car very usable as a daily driver. My daughter takes Bass Guitar lessons, and I can just open the hatch and put the guitar into the back seat. Here's a not so great pic:
Future mods: I think I want to get the wheels powder coated black, and maybe even the chrome stripe. I think the black/green color combo will look good. Maybe a little louder exhaust at some point (my car did not come with the PSE option).
Issues: None related to the targa. Top has been cleaned and lubed, so squeaks are at a minimum. I do have the mirror whistling issue that is common to many of the 997 cars, and will attempt a fix soon.
Let's see your Targas!!!

Thanks! Post here if you have any questions, and definitely post pics when you get the car.

Great combo...Chocolate Targa's are one of my favorites.
Here is my 4S (think it's got most options.. 6-spd, sport exhaust, chrono, sport seats and PASM). It is all-stock except for Dectane LEDs, clear side markers and LED bulbs throughout.

Good idea for a thread! I have a 2007 Targa 4S and use it as a daily driver. Just got back from a 1200 mile road trip and the hatchback made it really easy to use the back for luggage, etc. Mine is stock but I am a day or 2 from ordering the Fister muffler mod (FD Motorsports) which is a very cost effective way to add some anger to the exhaust note. They have a decent video on their website and there are other threads on this site that discuss the pros and cons of the various options including adding the PSE. Nice thing is that the Fister is a mod of the OEM muffler so easily reversed if you don't like it.

Always loved the Targa especially with the hatch. Was just not able to find the right one so I had to settle for the one I have.

Oh. My. God! Those Blue Targa's are just beautiful.
RussV60, let us know how the Fister mod works for you. I would like my car to be just a tad louder, am considering the Fabspeed X-pipe, but probably won't happen until sometime next year.

F308gt4 - Looks like right now I will be having them installed around November 23/24. I will be back on after that with posts and pictures. I have found a few more threads and I think the consensus is that you can't trust the sound of any mods on the YouTube videos but with the low cost and the number of folks who speak positively of the Fister I am going for it.
