Question TV activation TV DVD Free Porsche PCM 2.1 Navigation

I saw this on eBay, anyone have any experience with this on a 997.1 with PCM 2.1?

I wonder if it's just a pass through so whatever is on your phone shows on your PCM?

Just sent these questions to the seller
Couple of Q's:
Does the PCM have to be removed to install this?
Does the Navigation module have to be active, my car has PCM but not Nav.
Does this item basically plug into your phone and whatever is on your phone shows on the screen or is it something else?
Thanks
Caesar

From what i read it seems that your pcm should have the navigation module and actually the tv module. This thing actually just allows viewing the media while moving.

What Rick said. You need to still add a video module to the PCM (Google it), this device only allows you to use it when the car is in motion. Most (factory) DVD or video devices viewable to the driver require you to be in park with parking brake on to enable video playback.

Why would one want TV in a sports car? And will one watch TV/videos while driving ?!?

Sports cars were free of doodads and nonsense until recently. The argument that there is nothing wrong in piling stuff onto them is simply wrong. But what do I know?

Could this perhaps be for the PCM 2.1 that is in the Cayenne?

IIRC, there was some differences between the 997.1 and Cayenne PCM 2.1's? I think that there is a sticky about retrofitting the satellite radio from the Cayenne into the 997.

Perhaps it's the same story for the video module? Or is there an aftermarket unit that will enable this feature?

I would like to have the feature of being able to play a DVD movie in my car (so the woman has something to do on long road trips instead of complaining, lol)...

Here is an aftermarket, but do your own research on it, I have not done it myself (nor do I plan to). I have a Cayenne with PCM 2.1 as well, and the units are a bit different at least externally.

Agree with this. I have Nav but only when necessary. Otherwise, driving should be driving.
