Default TPMS Air Pressure Problems

So ever since my car was new the TPMS has always read 3 pounds less than my tire gauge. When the batteries finally died 2 years ago I replaced them. With the replacements, they now read 5 pounds lower than my gauge(i've tried different gauges). This causes a problem because I have to keep my pressure 5 pounds higher so my tire pressure light doesn't come on. Is there anything that can be switched on these so they read correctly or do i just have to run my tires 5 pounds higher?

Check the owner's manual. I believe you are supposed to fill to a certain psi and then calibrate the sensors via the gauge cluster. If you do the TPMS learning at the wrong pressures, your reading will be off.

I'll have to check the owners manual IslandS52. I'm not quite understanding what you're saying.

On my '09 with Sport Chrono, there is an option somewhere in the depths of the tires menu for the car to reset the readings so that they align with whatever your pressure gauge says they should be.

I guess you set the pressures where you want them, and then reset the TPMS to match your baseline values.

I have never used it because mine seem to be pretty spot on.
