I'm currently looking to purchase a 2009 Carrera and wanted to know the location of the engine serial number. Is it still located on the driver's side of the sump as on the M96 and M97 engines? Also, the car I'm looking at has had the engine replaced - do they still use a similar designation on the serial number as in the previous engines?

On mine it's located as indicated by the arrows at the very rear.

Nice job on that picture. Those numbers are almost impossible to see on my car, and photographing them is incredibly difficult.

I did those for Adrian. Not that difficult as I recall. Contortions put me in bed for only a week.

David and I tried the same for Adrian on both of our cars. The numbers were barely visible. I feel better now knowing that you got a good shot for him. Our shots truly sucked!
