997.2 pcm 3.0 with iPhone 6
Hey guys,
Just bought our first Turbo today! A 2011 turbo S. From my understanding, it won't do BT audio but will play off an iPod or iPhone if there's a physical, connection. I tried just the apple usb to lightning cable but I only get a charge no signal.
What do I need?
Thanks,

You need the Ipod interface cable. . The usb port will only charge the phone. You will also need a 30 pin to Lightning cable adapter for iphone 6

Confirming that ajayabb nailed that answer. With that cable and the adapter you will be all set. You can also get the cable at your local dealer (most will throw it in for free if you got the car from them).

I actually have the opposite problem. I have the iphod cable and a 30-pin to lightning adapter to my iPhone6. Music streams fine, but it does not charge my phone while plugged in. Don't know if this is normal behavior?

You have to have the Y adapter that ajaybb mentioned and both ends have to be plugged in at the car end (USB and iPod) to get both charging and audio streaming. It is certainly non-intuitive, but that is the way that it is.

[quote][I used the Tune2Air BT adapter. Very easy to connect to the 30 pin interface cable and via Bluetooth./quote]
Which version of the Tune2Air did you use - I assume the WMA1000 but wanted to be sure. Looks like this would be about the same cost as the updated cable to power my iPhone 6 and the 30 pin lightning connector, plus it solves the issue of trying to fit all the wires and adapters into the console.

If you get the Tune2air, which I have too, expect frequent audio cut outs if trying to stream audio as well as using PCM for hands free phone calls . The PCM isnt accustomed to handallling 2 audio streams . I have to keep my phone unpaired with PCM and paired only to Tune2air to work without hiccups

I think it's really bizarre it won't allow bluetooth streaming of music (or GPS turn-by-turn directions I assume). The $100 Tranzit-Blu HF in my '05 997 does the full monty. Someone said the bluetooth in the 991 is the same as the 997.2. My '11 Merc does bluetooth streaming, and it has old-tech too (no touch-screen and has a really awkward joystick/wheel controller, and cable connection in the glovebox). Someone more techie than me said it should only need a firmware update to make the Porsche PCM do streaming. IF that's so, then it's even more puzzling why Porsche hasn't done so.

The cars were designed on the long standing 12v DC charge system of the 30pin iDock connectors from Apple. Interfacing for audio playback only works through that physical connection to the DIN (round) plug on the Universal Audio Interface (UAI) panel in the center tray.
When Apple dropped the 12vDC charging pin from use in the iDevices that meant the direct DIN->iDock cable no longer charged / powered the devices. Porsche released a Y cable that still does the audio via the DIN port, but pulls the 5vDC power from the USB connector of the UAI. Then Apple switched interfaces entirely and went to lighting.
So now you need a DIN+USB Y -> 30PIN iDock cable from Porsche (for audio and power/charging) + an iDock 30pint to lighting adapter from a 3rd party, in order to connect up modern iDevices to the cars.
My solution was to buy an old 30Pin model of the iPod Nano - I can fit all of my music on that, sync it via itunes and I'm golden.

The problem with that solution is if I want to listen to a podcast (which may be on an app in my iPhone 6) I have to copy the file onto the 3s and I rarely sync that device.
