ABS PSM failure- help?
I just replaced my ABS with a used model- actually I replaced my entire brake system due to contaminates. Everything is new. The ABS is used thought. It's same part number and the date code is only 2 months away from my original.
I've bled the brake (and clutch system) well. The car brakes fine. I've even fired up Durametric and bled the ABS (you can hear the pump turn on when bleeding).
However, I'm having a problem saying that ABS+PSM are failing on the dash. The ABS does not engage when I jump on the brakes.
Here are the error codes from Durametric:
Gateway
8007:
Gateway incorrect coding
Stability management
5281
Version coding incorrect
Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I saw some posts about people fixing a similar problem by replacing the brake switch but my brake light switch works the brake lights fine. and it was working fine before I changed all the other parts. I ordered a switch anyway and will replace it. I see it toggling between "active" and "failing" very quickly in durametric.

Those incorrect coding messages usually mean there's a conflict in the coding configuration. For example I've seen similar messages when enabling TPMS without having the TPMS control module connected. Unfortunately you need the pro version of Durametric to change codings. Or PIWIS.

Burning Brakes
I had the ABS/PSM lights come on this morning on my way into the office. I was coming to a stop at a light, made the stop, took my foot off the brake pedal, and the lights popped on.
I've been having problems with the brake switch cutting the throttle signal off lately. I am thinking they are related somehow.

Ok- will update after the new brake switch. Hoping this fixes it but starting to come around to the idea that I need to go to the dealer with piwis (which makes me crazy). If this is the case , it's annoying to have done all this work (replaced the whole brake system) and have spent a fair amount of money on software and not be able to DIY the car.
I've also considered connecting the wires and running the old abs (which is full of contaminated fluid) without the hoses even connected to the car. I'd just put it in a plastic bag on the trunk floor. This is just a test to see if the Abs coding to the specific abs is the problem.
Any other comments are welcome.

You replaced the ABS/PSM control unit. The one you installed is not coded to the vehicle, hence no VIN or vehicle information. It doesn't know what vehicle it is in, but knows it isn't in the previous vehicle that it was originally coded for.
Recoding is your only choice.

Following up on this one if anyone has this issue in the future. It was indeed that I went to a reputable indie repair shop. They were able to code the ABS to the car with PIWIS.
Durametric consumer or pro versions do not allow for this (but it's a relatively rare occurrence).

reviving this thread from the past. Search is great. I have the same two codes on my cayman and somehow I caused it by trying to code out the airbag. Any ideas if its something I can fix with the Durametric pro or I need to get to my indie shop regardless?

Were you able to find anything out on this? Both lights came on a few days ago, and have been illuminating everytime I start my car (2005 cayenne)
