Default Transmission Specialist in DC Area

Does anyone have a transmission specialist in DC Area? I have a small leak on a manual and the dealer can only offer to replace the unit. The transmission works perfectly so I'm not going to go to that expense. I'm trying to find a shop that can remove and make a repair on our transmissions. Thanks

IMA and ASG are the two commonly referenced local Indys. I haven't used ASG yet but will try them soon. I have mixed reviews on IMA at this point. Do not expect things to be done on schedule if you go there.

edit: are you referring to a rear main seal leak?

Thanks for the references. I have a leak at the opposite end of the tranny.

Ivan just rebuilt our 996's transmission (dead 2nd synchro), he would have finished on time and budget if I hadn't kept swinging by the shop and finding additional things to add to the list. He of course had no complaints about that

I've been testing the waters with him for about a year knowing that some pricey work was on the horizon for the 996. I've found his prices reasonable and he and his crew are happy to spend time giving you as much detail as you'd like. Some people might be put off by his gruff manner, but it's really that he doesn't BS which is a big plus in my book.

Every time I've been there, all the bay's are full and he has a backlog. My take from that is that he doesn't have to make work up or try to up sell you as the work finds him.

I was put onto IMA by someone near me that takes his 986 and 955 to Ivan for the stuff he can't take care of, including some transmission work on the P!g (rebuild?). To this point I'm happy so Ivan will have my business and recommendation for the foreseeable future.
