Default IMS FAILURE IN 2006-2008 997 Cars.

I have seen the sticky at the top of the 997 forum relating to IMS failures in 997 cars. But I see that a number of the people that said theirs failed were 2005 cars. I was going to start a poll to see who in a 2006-2008 997.1 cars have had a confirmed failure of their engine due to IMS failure. It seems from reading it is very rare but I thought the above poll could use this one also.

I know it seems we are beating a dead horse but for those looking to buy it is hard to read through 49 pages of people that don't give details of what happened or several I see only have 1 or 2 posts.

Default From a former ME working in vehicle development.....

You won't have a sample size with any real meaning. You're likely to also get secondhand anecdotal "data". And finally, this horse has not only been beaten to death, it's be made into dog food, consumed and passed by the canines.

If you're loosing sleep over this topic, get a different car or an extended warranty.

None the less, good luck with your effort.

So whats the point of this thread other than trolling?
Its a subject beaten do death,.
There is no way you can do a scientific poll and get an accurate answer.
Nor can you verify that the poll vote is factual.

this thread should be deleted

Beaten to death. So I will mess up your survey. I have a 2005. And apparently from all the polls no one should ever buy a 2005 because they are ticking time bombs. But my 10 year old car revs to the limit with abandon, burns almost no oil, and has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. Really.

You should buy some loto tickets. Since your so lucky I only ask is for the money for a replacement engine.

I'm so over hearing about this issue. All this talk does is lower the values of our 911's. Again, there are no real IMS issues after 07.

If you had said "after 2008" I would have been with you.
