Default TPC Racing Updates Turbo Kit for 997 Gen 1 & 2

As part of our never ending commitment to pushing the boundaries of Porsche performance, TPC Racing recently made some updates to our 997 CT520 turbo kit.

A customer recently brought in this convertible Guards Red 997.2 CS for a TPC Racing turbo kit. What neither he nor we knew at the time is that his vehicle would become a development project, providing him with a newer, more efficient turbo kit.

As one of our veteran technicians, Stewart, began working on the car he realized that, with a pretty minor change, we should be able to make some improvements on our 997 conversion kit. He discussed his ideas with our engineer, Mike, and fabricator, Nick, and together they developed a revised exhaust system that allows for smoother, improved turbo response. The change was a simple one: reduce the diameter of the exhaust manifolds from 2 ¼ inches to 2 inches, and thereby increase the velocity of the airflow and response of the turbo. Mike also developed an updated ECU tune to compliment the updated exhaust system. Together, these improvements should provide a smoother, more responsive, and factory-like turbo system.

That looks like a 997.1 not 997.2.

I agree. Those look like retrofitted LED DRL's.

Good eye Blue311; you passed the test! We've got some photos below of the 997.2. We were fortunate enough to have a .1 and .2 in here at the same time we made these changes.

The navy blue .2 in the pictures below is actually a pretty special car too. It belongs to a longtime local customer, who had the turbo kit installed back in 2012. The car had been a bit neglected after the owner spent some time out of the country, and the person with whom he had left it hadn't run the car at all. He brought the car in for some service work, as he prepares to drive the car across country to the west coast. We started with some basic maintenance, changed all the fluids, and cleaned her up.

We also decided to upgrade his turbo with these newest updates, again downsizing from the 2 1/4" pipes to 2". We have experienced no loss in HP or torque with these smaller diameter pipes; just a smoother, more responsive system! The customer will also be installing a DSC module for his trek across the country, so we look forward to hearing about his experience with both the DSC and the upgraded turbo!
