Default Is this bad?

I am going to re-install a new steeringwheel. Ordered a new spline bolt to lock it in the right way. Was wondering if it is correct to use blue 242 loctite on the threads to lock it in and ensure there is no play. Anyone know if this is smart?

Is the loctite OEM ? If not I wouldn't and just torque it to OEM specs.

I saw a picture in a gt3 thread where they took the bolt out and it APPEARED to have some blue loctite on it. I wasn't sure if that means its OEM or not and if so I'm not sure what to use. Just tryin to make sure I do it right the first time and don't get any unwanted play.

Porsche apparently recommends replacement of bolt for each swap.

I put a Momo wheel on my old 964 and reused all the hardware and no Loctite and there was absolutely no play in the wheel. I've also put a M-Series wheel in my old BMW 330Ci and again reused the hardware and no Loctite. The splines in the steering shaft really secure the wheel.

Good Luck!

There are so many splines on the shaft, you should not have any play at all from the steering wheel. Locktite is not going to make any difference. Also with the airbag installed even if by some chance the nut comes loose it won't have the clearance to go anywhere. All the locktite will do is make the bolt harder to remove next time.

To anyone curious, the bolt comes with blue loctite on it from the factory. Ordered 2 of them just to be safe, both came with blue loctite on them. Installed and works great.
