But I thought the 996 was the best porsche you can buy

I loved my 996 and used it as a daily driver for a few years before getting a daily drive; however, I remember reading a magazine article that indicated that Porsche did something with the 997 that manufacturers are seldom, if at all, capable of doing: they made the new model (997) better in every way without any drawbacks. I'm paraphrasing because I can't remember the magazine that said it, but I think we al get the point.
