Default Garage Lift

Hi all

I am looking to install a lift in my garage. (Essentially to store the two 911s and allow me to play with them as needed).

I was thinking a 4-post unit with casters. (Not sure if hydraulic or electric is the best but I want to run off of standard 120 v)

Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.

Also if anyone knows of a source in the Montreal area.

Thanks

Ed

Hi Ed, you will probably have to go hydraulic since I don't think they make electric for 120v.

I used a DirectLift. It's 120v pump that operates the hydraulics.
It comes with a castor kit so you can move it around (1 guy) and the Racedeck stands up to it just fine.
Have a look at my thread.

I think we need a "Sticky" garage category

May I suggest you look over at garagejournal, they've have tons of info. I put a bendpak 220 in there because it was easy enough running another circuit that I figured I'd need for something else anyway.

I prefer the air release on the bendpak to the mechanical releases elsewhere. That'll be a debate about quality till the cows come home but for me, the size was and the certification were important factors.

220, but I love my Bendpak HD9ST. It's the smallest footprint I could find. Got casters, drip pans, and rolling jack. I definitely recommend the rolling jack.

HD7W for me. I didn't want the HD9 because of the depth, the HD7W is ideal as the posts are wider than the garage door opening and it goes up nice and high.

I agree 1000%. My HD9ST was necessary because I designed the space, then selected the lift. It gives me the most comfortable area to move around in my garage. If I had sourced the lift first, I definitely would have made sure that (1) the posts were as wide or wider than the overhead door opening, and (2) I had plenty of room to move around outside the posts. Definitely poor planning on my part.

I picked up an Advantage Lifts 4 Post unit late last year and would highly recommend it. It requires a 120V 15 AMP Circuit to operate the 1.5Hp motor which raises the lift hydraulically. It's rated for 9000 Lbs and far more robust than anything else I have seen.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Is your Directlift a Pro Park 8, 8 Long or the 9?

Is it a DYI weekend project or did you have to call someone in to assemble it?

I didn't have access to hoists and other stuff but other than the weight, it's not a complicated install. Just heavy. After seeing it done and dismantling bits and pieces to adjust it's not horrible but damn it's heavy. Have to be able to collect it from either a depot of some kind or a warehouse. I don't have a truck or a trailer.....
